If you’re trying to decide if a program like the St. Catherine University Online Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program is right for you, you’ve come to the right place. At St. Kate’s, we have a diverse student body that comes from all walks of life. One thing these students have in common is the desire and passion to become an occupational therapy assistant.

In this article, you’ll hear honest online OTA program reviews of St. Kate’s OTA program from three students:

  • Lilliana, a December 2019 graduate
  • Kristi, class of August 2021
  • Sefir, class of August 2021

Although these three students have different backgrounds and experiences, they each found something to love about occupational therapy and they trusted St. Kate’s to prepare them for a fulfilling career in the field.

But, enough from us. Let’s see what our students had to say about the online OTA program.

Why Choose St. Kate’s Online OTA Program?

For Lilliana, the online aspect of the St. Kate’s OTA program was key.

Lilliana: "I really like the convenience of online. I think that was the biggest player for me. At the time, I lived in California and I was caregiving for my dad. Being at home was really important for me to be able to still assist him and help with things that he needed, like appointments and medication management."

For Sefir, the support and availability of his professors made his time in the program go smoothly.

Sefir: "I've had some really excellent professors throughout the program. I think their communication is top-notch, bar none. If I ever needed help with something, whether with the course material itself or my computer is acting up, they’re there to help and have done an incredible job."

He also enjoyed the resources he gained through St. Kate’s and says he has no doubts about passing the NBCOT exam to become a certified occupational therapy assistant.

Kristi offers advice on how to stay engaged and organized while completing your degree.

Kristi: "It’s been a journey and it's not always been easy, but it is completely worth it.

It’s difficult, but it's doable and St. Kate sets you up to succeed. They give you everything that you need, as long as you ask the questions and ask for help if you need it. You have to be responsible and take initiative. You have to be motivated and take it one day at a time.

There were some late nights, there were some concepts that were harder than others and so I had to take initiative and research and study and do a lot of reading, but it's doable."

Kristi says although the coursework can be rigorous, it makes her feel proud to accomplish work that she knows will result in empowering her to help others.

Kristi: "In the end, this will be one of the things where I am proud to have gone through this school. I love the school and I think it's a great program. I’ve put so much work in and I'm proud of that."

"What makes staying up late and making sacrifices worth it is that I'm going to get to be in a field that really is impactful in people's lives. Occupational therapy is foundational to helping people have a great quality of life. And that is what I'm looking forward to the most."

As you can see, there are many reasons to pursue your dream of helping people as an OTA, and St. Kate’s can help you gain the skills you need to make a big difference in people’s lives.
